About the Role
As a Forward Deployed Engineer at Upvista, you will partner directly with startup founders and technical leaders to scope ambiguous engineering problems, align architecture, and deploy high-impact features directly into production codebases. You represent both the technical execution and the communication layer of Upvista, building trust and shipping code that users interact with daily.
Requirements
- 4+ years of shipping user-facing software or building systems in fast-paced startup environments.
- Strong customer-facing communication and product definition skills to clarify requirements on the fly.
- An active public GitHub contribution history demonstrating real projects and clean coding patterns.
- Proven expertise in TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and modern API protocols (REST, GraphQL).
- Exceptional capacity to navigate large, unfamiliar codebases quickly and isolate issues independently.
- Strong sense of individual responsibility for the reliability of the software you deliver.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with founders to translate product roadmap goals into scoped, actionable engineering tasks.
- Integrate complex workflows including subscription payments (Stripe), CRMs, event queues, and transaction logs.
- Deploy clean, documented, and fully tested features directly to client staging and production systems.
- Provide technical guidance on frontend rendering pipelines, state systems, and backend worker architectures.
- Write design notes and document client system architecture decisions clearly.
